How This Scrap Metal Price Calculator Works
The calculator gives a fast estimate for U.S. scrap payouts. It is designed for one job: helping you see a realistic value range before you drive to the yard.
Formula
Every estimate starts with the same equation:Estimated payout = Weight x Spot price x Grade multiplier
Example: if copper spot is $4.12/lb, your load is 120 lb, and the grade multiplier is 0.88, then estimated payout is $435.07.
Why Grade Multipliers Matter
Scrap yards do not usually pay raw spot. They discount for prep time, contamination risk, and resale margin. Grade multipliers model those real-world deductions.

Price Freshness Policy
